Junior Competitions

Junior competitions will be held on Mondays from 1:00 pm throughout midterm breaks and the summer months of July and August.

Junior Golf Camps

Junior Golf Camps are held during Easter and the summer months of July and August.

Club Competitions

Male junior members with an official club handicap of 24 and under may participate in all club competitions at a reduced competition fee also limited to winning first prize in certain events.

All female junior members with an official club handicap of 36 may participate in all club competitions.

Should any member wish to sponsor a prize or competition for the Juniors, please contact Liam.

Rules of Golf for Junior Members

POLICY STATEMENT:

Youghal Golf Club is fully committed to safe guarding the well being of their members. Every individual in golf should at all times, show respect and understanding for members rights, safety and welfare and conduct themselves in a way that reflects the principles of the organisation and the guidelines contained in the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children’s Sport.

In working with young people in golf our first priority is the welfare of the young people and we are committed to providing an environment that will allow participants to perform to the best of their ability, free from bullying and intimidation.

Introduction:

A junior must be 8 years of age before they can be registered with Youghal Golf Club.

A player is a junior until their 18th birthday.

A player under 10 years may apply for membership and play accompanied by an adult at all times.

A player 10 years and over is eligible to play junior competitions.

Safety, Course & Clubhouse

In the interest of health and safety we recommend all juniors engage in structured coaching programmes.

Course etiquette/ Code of Behaviour/Dress code:

The following items of dress are not acceptable on the course or in the clubhouse:

  • Tracksuits
  • Untailored shorts
  • Denim Jackets
  • Mobile Phones must be switched OFF on the course.
  • Respect and be courteous to adult members on the course.
  • Play quickly and do not hold up any players behind you.
  • Repair divots, rake bunkers and pitch marks.

 Parents/ Guardians Role:

Parents should assist in

  • Supervision
  • Management of junior competitions
  • Ensure juniors are collected within 30 minutes of golf finishing
